How difficult is the Everest Base Camp Trek ?

The trek is challenging but entirely achievable for anyone with a good level of physical fitness and a strong determination. You do not need technical climbing skills, but you should prepare with regular cardiovascular exercise, hiking, and strength training a few months prior to arrival.

How do you prevent altitude sickness ?

Altitude is the biggest challenge on this trek. Our itinerary is carefully designed with designated acclimatization days in Namche Bazaar (3,440m) and Dingboche (4,410m). Our guides monitor your health daily and enforce a slow, steady walking pace to help your body adjust safely.

What happens if the flight to Lukla is delayed ?

Because Lukla is a high-altitude airstrip, flights are strictly dependent on clear weather and visibility. Delays can happen. We highly recommend adding 1 to 2 buffer days to the end of your travel itinerary to account for any unforeseen flight cancellations.

What is the food and accommodation like ?

The Everest region has excellent trekking infrastructure. You will sleep in comfortable teahouses with heated communal dining rooms. The menus offer a surprisingly wide variety of food, including the staple Nepali "Dal Bhat," pasta, pizza, soups, and momos (dumplings).

Can you see Mount Everest from Base Camp ?

Interestingly, the peak of Mount Everest is not visible from Base Camp itself due to the angle of the surrounding mountains (like Nuptse). That is exactly why our itinerary includes an early morning hike to Kala Patthar, which provides the iconic, sweeping view of the Everest summit.

Overview

The adventure begins with a thrilling scenic flight to the mountain airstrip of Lukla. From there, the trail winds upward through the Sagarmatha National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site. You will cross high suspension bridges draped in prayer flags, trek through dense alpine forests, and acclimatize in the bustling Sherpa capital of Namche Bazaar.

Before reaching Base Camp itself, we hike to the summit of Kala Patthar (5,545m) to witness the most spectacular sunrise on earth, offering an unobstructed, close-up view of Mount Everest (Sagarmatha), Nuptse, and Lhotse.

Day 1 :

Welcome to Kathmandu!

Elevation: 1,300 m / 4,265 ft
Description: Upon arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, you will be greeted and transferred to your hotel. Spend the day resting or exploring the colorful streets of Thamel as you prepare for the journey ahead.

Day 2 :

Kathmandu to Lukla (Flight) and Trek to Phakding

Elevation: 2,651 m / 8,697 ft
Time: 35 min flight | 4 hours trek
Description: We take an early morning flight to the gateway of Everest, Lukla. After meeting our porter crew, we begin a gentle trek through the Dudh Koshi Valley, passing stone mani walls and prayer wheels until we reach the riverside village of Phakding.

Day 3 :

Phakding to Namche Bazaar

Elevation: 3,440 m / 11,286 ft
Time: 5 to 6 hours trek
Description: Today we entered the Sagarmatha National Park. We cross high suspension bridges over the turquoise river before tackling the steep ascent to Namche Bazaar. This vibrant town is the "Sherpa Capital" and offers your first clear view of Mount Everest.

Day 4 :

Acclimatization Day in Namche Bazaar

Elevation: 3,700 m / 12,139 ft
Time: 4 to 5 hours (Hiking)
Description: To help our bodies adjust to the altitude, we hike to the Everest View Hotel for a panoramic vista of Everest, Ama Dablam, and Lhotse. We returned to Namche for the afternoon to enjoy the local bakeries and coffee shops.

Day 5 :

Namche to Tengboche

Elevation: 3,956 m / 12,979 ft
Time: 5 to 6 hours trek
Description: The trail winds along a spectacular ridgeline before descending to the river and climbing steeply through rhododendron forests. We arrive at Tengboche, home to the most famous monastery in the region, set against the backdrop of the stunning Ama Dablam.

Day 6 :

Tengboche to Dingboche

Elevation: 4,380 m / 14,370 ft
Time: 4 to 5 hours trek
Description: We descend through the forest to Deboche and cross the Imja Khola. The landscape becomes more rugged and alpine as we climb toward Dingboche, a picturesque village surrounded by stone-walled fields to protect crops from the high-altitude winds.

Day 7 :

Acclimatization Day in Dingboche

Elevation: 4,380 m / 14,370 ft
Time: 3 to 4 hours (Hiking)
Description: Our second acclimatization day involves a hike up Nangkartshang Peak. This climb offers incredible views of Makalu (the world's 5th highest peak) and the sheer face of Lhotse. The afternoon is free to rest and hydrate.

Day 08 :

Dingboche to Lobuche

Elevation: 4,938 m / 16,200 ft
Time: 4 to 5 hours trek
Description: The trail leads us across a wide glacial plain toward Thukla. After a steep climb to the top of the Thukla Pass, we pass the climbers' memorials. The trail then levels out as we follow the lateral moraine of the Khumbu Glacier to Lobuche.

Day 09 :

Lobuche to Gorakshep & Afternoon Hike to Kala Patthar

Elevation: 5,160 m / 16,929 ft
Time: 6 to 7 hours total
Description: We trek through the rocky moraine to reach Gorakshep, the highest settlement on the route. In the afternoon, we hike to the summit of Kala Patthar (5,545 m) for the most iconic, unobstructed view of Mount Everest's summit.

Day 10 :

Gorakshep to Pheriche (Morning Hike to Everest Base Camp)

Elevation: 4,371 m / 14,340 ft
Time: 8 to 9 hours total
Description: This is the big day. We trek across the glacier to the official Everest Base Camp (5,364 m). After celebrating our achievement and taking photos at the iconic "rock," we return to Gorakshep for lunch and descend to the lower, oxygen-rich air of Pheriche.

Day 11 :

Pheriche to Namche Bazaar

Elevation: 3,440 m / 11,286 ft
Time: 6 to 7 hours trek
Description: Retracing our steps, we descend through Pangboche and Tengboche. The walking feels much easier as we drop in altitude, and the landscape returns to lush greenery. We spent our final night in the Khumbu "metropolis" of Namche.

Day 12 :

Namche to Lukla

Elevation: 2,860 m / 9,383 ft
Time: 7 hours trek
Description: Our final day on the trail. We cross the high bridges one last time and enjoy a long, steady walk back to Lukla. In the evening, we host a farewell party with our porters and guides to celebrate the journey.

Day 13 :

Lukla to Kathmandu (Flight)

Elevation: 1,300 m / 4,265 ft
Time: 30 min flight
Description: We take an early flight back to Kathmandu. Upon arrival, you are transferred to your hotel. You have a free afternoon for last-minute shopping or a well-deserved massage in Thamel.

Day 14 :

Final Departure

Description: Your journey through the Himalayas concludes today. Our representative will provide a transfer to the airport for your flight home, carrying the spirit of Everest with you.
